From April 30th to May 2nd the 2013 edition of SIAL Canada was held at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto. SIAL Canada belongs to the SIAL Group network with 5 shows across the world, Paris, Shanghai, Sao Paolo, Abu Dhabi and Montreal/Toronto. It is a truly global event that has become a benchmark for the food industry all around the world and as always, we had a blast! We love meeting people with whom we can talk food and enjoy tastes from all over the world! Who wouldn’t?
This year was very special for us as it meant the return of SIAL Canada to our hometown after the successful first edition in 2011. We wanted to look our best so we put together one of the biggest displays in the show. Together with our partner Barocco Coffee we created a vibrant and dynamic spotlight within the Italia pavilion. And of course we gave away tons of samples of our best products: Colacchio Biscuits, Loacker Wafers, Baci Chocolates, Reko Pizzelle, La Veneziane Gluten Free Pasta, Riscossa Pasta… and of course Barocco Coffee, Aurora and Allessia. I don’t think anyone who visited our booth came out hungry!
But there is more! This year SIAL ran their 3rd edition of the prestigous Coffee Cup By Sial competition that was open to both exhibitors and non exhibitors… and Barocco Coffee came away with medals for both it’s coffees entered!!! The GOLD medal was awarded to the “L’Espresso” blend and it was tested as a brewed coffee, which gives it a new versatility for cutsomers to enjoy The SILVER medal was awarded to our APPIAN medium roast. Both these awards came in the BLEND category and all coffees were judged according to SCAA rules by a panel of certified experts.
You can imagine that these awards were the cherry on top of a great SIAL Canada event for us! We can’t wait for the 2014 edition to keep meeting companies and people from all around the globe who love food as much as we do. And I know Barocco Coffee is already working hard to make sure they impress the jury again next year!
